How much fun can a puppy have at the beach?

Guess who is back in town? Mr Dallas Nock … and yes I’m over the moon. More gorgeous pics and videos. Brilliant!

And it is raining too, first time in about 3 weeks. Yay! The ground is bone dry  mind you – worst I have ever seen it. NZ’s north island was declared drought this week, says it all really.

But our very lucky vege garden has a super supply of water! It looks divine. The chillies especially are looking fabulous probably because they are sharing the garden with geraniums and borage. They love close planting, the more humid the environment the better.

The tomato plants are starting to look bedraggled, although still feeding us with very sweet tasty toms! I haven’t checked under the kumara plants – but a I have a sneaky feeling that they are going to be rather small tubers. Hmmm

Our heritage beans have been doing a sterling job too, and yes, we have been eating beans every night.

Also I have nearly finished the pruning too!  Only about another 4 trees to go and that’s it until April or thereabouts when we give those olive trees a serious haircut, and there is at least 50 of those suckers to do too. Not much of a crop of olives either – I suspect again the wind has been responsible for the loss of the fruit! Nothing to do with the fact that they are planted on a hill which cops the prevailing wind.

Those seedlings are looking fab .. .something to do with the fish & seaweed fertiliser

The seedlings I pricked out a few weeks back look terrific … so with a bit of luck these will go into the ground in the next few weeks. I shall have to put them in cloches though to protect them from those rotten while butterflies.

Bees … just love those fuzzy little guys. Rikki the apiarist was out on Friday checking on those bees as you do. And it just so happens that Dallas was about camera in hand. Gorgeous pics … the air was filled with the sweet smell of honey and the buzzing of those tireless workers!

  1. Shame about the olives, but great you’re having a bean feast – and sounds like you’ll have some liquid gold for your borage tea soon!
