Sorry no garden blog this week. But instead we went away with our good buddy Aussie photographer Dallas and his lovely wife Kathy driving from Auckland to Central Otago in the South Island. Why? Photos and footage for Toi Toi Wines of course!
Well there is something to be said about campervans. Not that they aren’t great modes of transport mind you .. but when there are four adults, loads of photography equipment, props, boxes and boxes of wine (for photos of course) and a pooch named Dan, then things can get a tad cramped. And me, well I might live on a farm and wear gumboots, but there is something to be said for the comforts of home – I guess I’m not into sleeping on garage floors at vineyards nor waking up in the middle of the night and wondering where the ‘toot’ might be.
Was it an adventure? Absolutely – all in a week!
Some pics to tell the story.
Brookdale Vineyard in Marlborough – Sauvignon Blanc country
Loddon Lane Vineyard, Marlborough – gorgeous sunny day
Fairlie – Tekapo Rd, heading to Central Otago
Just stunning – Lake Tekapo, Central Otago. Perfect spot for photos ..
Clutha Vineyard, Central Otago
Proof, the pooch came on the sojourn with us. Here he is at Lake Wakatipu. A truly beautiful spot in Queenstown
Wonderful lolly shop in Arrowtown, Central Otago ..
Same shop – Fudge …..
Now that’s what I call a sign! Arrowtown …
Pardon?
Lovely Lupins … everywhere
Ok, we did have the odd glass or two!
Incredible photos Julie! You should be working for the NZ Tourist Board! Just stunning 🙂 I haven’t tried Toi Toi wine. Do you make it?
Hey Sarah – thank you! NZ tourist board you think? Yes we do make it – nice wee drop if I don’t mind saying so myself 🙂 I’m still looking for that recipe for you I haven’t forgotten.
Brilliant photo’s!!!! Love them all – but of course I love the one with the bike in it, and the one with the peanut butter chocolate!!! Dan looks like he enjoyed the break!!
Hey Brenda .. thanks Miss. Thought you would like the one with the bike! I think Dan is very pleased to be home 🙂
You whisked me back to an idyllic holiday in New Zealand a few years ago, especially as we spent some time with a wine grower near Marlborough. I’m so envious that you have this fabulous scenery.
It is such a pretty country Anne, we are so lucky. Good to know that you have been here. Was a first for me in various parts of the South Island. Loving my camera 🙂
oh Julie! We spent 4 weeks on our honeymoon driving around the South Island and your photos brought back so many beautiful memories. I have travelled the world extensively and our NZ driving adventure is still by far our favourite trip of all time.
Hi Lisa … wow honeymoon! Now that’s special. Glad the pics brought back memories.Gorgeous scenery
Julie
Great shots. Looks like you had a fab time away! How are the vines looking?? Toi toi is still on the up??
The wine over here is a disaster really, any good wine you pay heaps for as it’s 300% taxed!!
I’m away on the north side of Bali at the mo having a great time. Had a 4 hour bike ride to get here, loads of fun on this little 150 dirt bike. Will take a long way home tomorrow!!
I met 2 ladies that have built a coral garden here, I snorkeled some of it today. The sculptures are made from metal that have a v v small electric current flow that attracts the coral. Amazing!!! Saw loads of nemos.
Big squeeze to you both xxx
New Zealand is truly stunning, I really want to go back for a jaunt, glad to see you took a bottle of wine too. Great photos.
Thanks Lizzie .. it was an adventure. Don’t know about the campervan though. 🙂
